Feb. 2, 2024—The Jersey Village High School AFJROTC Unit TX-20017 received the highest overall unit rating of “Exceeds Standards” during its Headquarters Unit Inspection and formal evaluation on Jan. 22.

Jersey Village joins Langham Creek and Cypress Falls high schools in earning the distinguished rating this school year.

Air Force headquarters officials visit JROTC units every three years and perform compliance inspections and evaluations consisting of a briefing, unit formation inspection and drill sequence. The inspections are held to ensure units are maintaining their regulations and standards.

During the inspections, cadets stand at attention within their unit formation. Selected cadets also answer questions asked by the inspecting official, with topics ranging from military and leadership knowledge to general knowledge and conversation. Uniforms are also inspected and critiqued.

Following the inspection, the unit performs a drill sequence and mission briefing.

“JROTC cadets are model students and the JROTC program is well respected in the school,” said SMSgt. Faye Hardy, Jersey Village senior aerospace science instructor. “The Cadets Corps has better than a 90% overall academic average and has implemented an active academic tutoring program. The unit has a well-organized, cadet-led PT program with a large number of PFT Award recipients. The unit is very focused on recruiting and retention and has the full support of the counseling office. LDRs are very active in local area competitions and have won several awards and trophies this year. The Cadet Corps is represented in, seemingly, every other available activity/club/organization on campus.”
