Stephanie Meshell named new principal at Cypress Ridge HS
Dec. 20, 2013—Stephanie Meshell, the associate principal at Cypress Ridge High School, was named the new principal at Cypress Ridge on Friday. Meshell replaces Claudio Garcia, who will retire this month after more than 40 years in public education.
Meshell has 22 years in education, including 10 in CFISD. She taught and coached for one year apiece in Woden ISD and Lincoln Parish Schools (La.) before arriving in Nacogdoches ISD to teach and coach for two years at Rusk Middle School. She then transferred to Nacogdoches High School, where she served eight total years as a teacher/coach (1995-2000) and assistant athletic director (2000-2003).
Meshell arrived at Cypress Ridge in 2003 as an assistant principal, serving three years in that role before being named associate principal in July 2006.
She received her Bachelor of Science in Education from Stephen F. Austin (SFA) State University (1991), and also received master’s degrees in both education (1992) and counseling (2002) from SFA.
“I am humbled and excited to have the opportunity to serve the students, staff and community of Cypress Ridge High School.”
Garcia credited Meshell as one of the finest administrators he knows.
“She knows how to create and nurture an effective learning environment on a campus. She has excellent problem-solving skills and is an extremely effective communicator. Stephanie understands how to build and sustain ‘leadership capacity’ throughout a campus,” he said. “She will take Cypress Ridge High School from good to great. I am extremely proud of her and very happy for her. The district’s leadership team did an excellent job in selecting her to be the next principal of Cypress Ridge High School.”
