January 25, 2008 —Robert Blackshear, the athletic coordinator and head football coach at Cypress Springs High School, was named the new athletic coordinator and head football coach for Cypress Lakes High School, which will open in the 2008-2009 school year.
Blackshear has spent 29 years as a football coach, and has been the athletic coordinator at Cypress Springs for the last 11 years.
He earned his Bachelor of Science from Angelo State University, and is certified in Secondary History and Secondary Physical Education.
“I’m looking forward to going to a new program and building from the ground up,” Blackshear said. “The hard part will be leaving some good friends and good people at Cypress Springs, but hopefully the experiences that I’ve had here will help me put together a program that’s very successful over at Cypress Lakes.”
Cypress Lakes will compete on the varsity level in all sports except football starting with the 2009-2010 school year. The school’s first varsity football season will start with the 2010-2011 school year.
