November 5, 2007 — Cypress Woods High School junior volleyball player Caleigh McCorquodale and Cypress Creek High School senior football player Jacob Thompson were named the Girls and Boys athletes of the week, respectively, by the Houston Chronicle.

McCorquodale, a setter for the Lady Wildcats, led the first-year program to victories in its first two playoff matches over Katy Taylor and Bellaire. She had 55 assists, 14 kills and 19 digs in the first two rounds.

Thompson, the Cougars quarterback, accounted for nine touchdowns as Cypress Creek lost a 63-62 shootout to Cy-Fair on Friday. Thompson completed 22 of 43 passes for 394 yards and five touchdowns and ran for 206 yards and four touchdowns on 23 carries in the loss.
