July 20, 2007—The Cypress-Fairbanks ISD Athletics Department confirmed that a contract agreement has been reached for the Cy-Fair vs. Cypress Falls football game to be broadcast live on ESPN2 this season.
The district game is one of 14 that will be featured this fall as part of the ESPNU Old Spice High School Showcase. The Bobcats and Eagles will clash at the Berry Center on Thursday, Oct. 18, at 7 p.m.
The 11,000-seat Berry Center was the site for Cypress Falls’ narrow 22-21 win over Cy-Fair last fall. Cypress Falls went on to play in the Division II state championship game, while Cy-Fair advanced to the Division I Region III finals behind record-breaking junior running back Sam McGuffie.
McGuffie is part of the ESPN 150 Watch List, a group of soon-to-be high school seniors who are being considered as the top 150 players in the nation. This Sunday, July 22, at 7 p.m., ESPNU will take a deeper look at the Old Spice Showcase schedule and also announce the ESPN 150 Class of 2008 during a special edition of ESPNU Recruiting Insider: ESPN 150.
